Cardinal Health Inc. has pledged to cut 50% of its greenhouse gas emissions from its operations by 2030.
The healthcare services company plans to reduce its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, which refer to emissions derived from the company’s direct operations and electricity purchased. Cardinal also said it will evaluate its Scope 3 emissions, or emissions resulting from indirect activities such as business travel and waste.
Cardinal plans to achieve validation of its emissions-reduction targets by the Science-Based Targets initiative, or SBTi, it said.
The company said it plans to use renewable energy for its global headquarters and national logistics center starting in 2022. Cardinal has also set diversity and inclusion goals across its leadership and workforce.
